Privacy Policy

Effective 27 September 2026.

Carter is a sales-practice tool. It runs as a website at runcarter.com and as an iPhone and iPad app. You talk out loud to an AI prospect and get scored on the conversation. You can also record a real sales conversation and have it scored. That means we handle your voice and the words you say. This page sets out plainly what we collect, where it goes, how long we keep it, and how to delete it.

Who we are and how to reach us

Carter is operated by its founder. For anything to do with this policy or your data, email support@runcarter.com. Carter is a workplace tool for people who sell for a living; you must be 18 or older to use it.

Requesting a demo

There is no public trial. To see Carter, you email support@runcarter.com and ask for a demo. We use that email only to reply and arrange the demo, and delete it when it is no longer needed.

When you create an account

Carter is invite-only. There is no public sign-up. You sign in with your invited email address and a password you choose. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes by our authentication provider. Invitation and password-reset emails come from no-reply@runcarter.com and are delivered through Resend. On the website, one session cookie keeps you signed in. In the app, your sign-in token is stored in the device keychain until you sign out or delete your account. With an account we store:

  • your email address;
  • the name, product and goals you have provided to us;
  • audio recordings of your practice drills and your recorded conversations, kept in private storage;
  • the transcript, scorecard and coaching notes for each drill and recording;
  • the outcomes you log, and your progress and history.

All of it is used to run Carter for you: to hold the conversation, score it, show you what to work on, and track how you are improving over time.

Microphone and voice

Carter uses your microphone only during a practice drill or a Sit recording that you start. A Sit is a real sales conversation you choose to record. Nothing is recorded outside a drill or Sit you started. Your browser or device asks for microphone permission before the first one.

During a practice drill:

  • Your audio is streamed live to Gradium, which turns it into text as you speak.
  • The prospect’s voice is synthesised from text by Gradium.
  • The transcript goes to Anthropic, the company behind the Claude models. Anthropic produces the prospect’s replies and scores the conversation.
  • The recording, transcript, score and coaching notes are stored with your account.

During a Sit:

  • The conversation is recorded on your device.
  • When it ends, the recording is uploaded to private storage at Supabase.
  • AssemblyAI transcribes the recording and separates the speakers.
  • Anthropic scores the transcript.
  • The recording, transcript and scorecard are stored with your account.

Recordings and transcripts are private to you. Recording a real customer is your responsibility. Some places require the consent of everyone in the conversation before you record it. The app reminds you of this before your first Sit.

Who processes your data

We do not run our own servers. These companies process data on our behalf, and only so we can provide Carter:

  • Supabase — database, sign-in and file storage
  • Gradium — speech-to-text and the prospect’s voice
  • Anthropic — scoring and the prospect’s replies
  • AssemblyAI — transcription of Sit recordings
  • Resend — sign-in and account emails
  • Render — hosting
  • Cloudflare — DNS and email routing

Our providers process data in the United States and the EU. If you use Carter from somewhere else, your data is transferred to and processed there.

If you install the app, Apple processes your download and payment data under its own privacy policy.

What we do not do

We do not sell your personal data. We show no advertising. We do not use your transcripts or recordings to train models of our own. The speech and model providers above process your audio and transcripts to produce the prospect’s replies, your transcript and your score. Their agreements with us limit use of your data to providing that service to Carter.

Cookies

The website sets a session cookie that keeps you signed in. The app sets no cookies. There are no analytics or advertising cookies. If that changes, we will update this policy first.

How long we keep things

  • Account data: kept until you delete your account.
  • Recordings and transcripts: kept until you delete your account.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account from Settings on the website or in the app. Carter removes your recordings, transcripts, scorecards, coaching history, outcomes and profile straight away. Backup copies at our providers expire on their normal schedule. Deletion cannot be undone. If you want a copy of your data first, email support@runcarter.com before you delete. We will check the request comes from the email on the account, then send it.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Recordings live in private storage buckets, and access is limited to the account that owns them. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach that affects your data, we will tell you.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change this policy we will update the effective date at the top and, if you have an account, email you.
